Project G.I.V.E.

Who is Project G.I.V.E.?

We spend a lot of time telling victims and potential victims of gender-based violence how to help themselves. Self-defense techniques, campus resources, safety tips are all important, but CofC recognizes that, in order to prevent this type of violence, we also have to talk to potential perpetrators – that is to say everyone.

Project G.I.V.E. is the College of Charleston’s only gender-based and interpersonal violence primary prevention peer education program. Our group of peer educators talk to students about the definition of consent, how to know when you have it and when you don’t, what a healthy relationship looks like and how to actively and safely intervene if it looks like one of your friends might be about to do something that isn’t consensual.
